Like a flower blooms in spring, I am beginning fresh. I began dressmaking when I was 16 and also began my first business, making bow ties, selling at market stalls and doing simple alterations. As I left college where I learnt many things about art, design and textiles, I expanded my business to making wedding gowns and custom made clothing. I love my job, I love my clients, but something was missing. I was missing that creative spark that gets you out of bed in the morning. As my client numbers expanded dramatically over the years, I was finding it hard to keep up, and my job was feeling more of a chore rather than a passion.
Unfortunately recently I had to close my doors for a few months due to the pandemic. This gave me time to breathe, relax and create. After reflecting, planning, doubting, and reviving I made some huge decisions that I hope will be for the best.
Inescapable Clothing has been my baby, my work that I am so proud of. I have put endless hours into not only doing the sewing side of things but also behind the scenes. Research, creating content, marketing, building business relationships and so on. I am so proud of what I have accomplished and I hope all my lovely clients will stick with me through this change.
Winter Flora will be my new branded name. I feel this fits my aesthetic and fits in beautifully with my new en-devours. As my favourite quote from Mulan says;
" The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all "
And so Winter Flora will bloom out of this pandemic and into better times. I can't wait to see where this takes me and I thank each and every one of my clients for letting me work on your beautiful clothes, and I hope to do so for a long time to come.
